5-Week Instructor Training Course

In this 5-week course you’ll learn tools and techniques and gain the confidence to lead a pole fitness class. At the end of the course, you will have developed a lesson plan for the class style of your choice and have received hands-on training and feedback in inclusion, class management, anatomy & warm-up, cueing and spotting, as well as practice leading a mock classroom. If you haven’t taught before, this training is also the first step to becoming a Fly Together Fitness instructor!


Basic Information

Term: September 12th - October 10th

Instructors: Quinn, Alicia, Angela, and Jenny


Course location: Fly Together Fitness, 31 Woodbine St, Somerville, MA

Course hours: Sundays, 5:30pm-7:30pm

Price: $300 for 10 hours of in-person training


Course Objectives

This course is designed to give you the tools and practice to create a curriculum for your classes, lead a safe warm-up, learn to spot, and maintain an inclusive and welcoming environment for your students. At the end of the course you'll have developed a lesson plan for the class type of your choice and gained experience in the above areas as well as in leading a mock classroom.

After the Course: Becoming a Fly Together Fitness Instructor
This course is the first step to becoming a Fly Together Instructor! We'll be taking applications from students who complete this course and are interested in teaching. If selected, you'll receive and be compensated for further training on Fly Together specific methodologies, milestones, and more.

Course Schedule

Week 1

September 12th, 2021

Topics: Welcome, Class Management, Inclusion & Microagression training

Bring to Class: Bring goals for the course

Homework: Decide what type of class you'd like to develop a plan for; mock-up class timing

Week 2

September 19th, 2021

Topics: Leading and Managing a Class, Using Empowering Language

Homework: Design a general class plan with movements you'd like to teach and adjustments/contingency plans

Week 3

September 26th, 2021

Topics: Anatomy and Warm-Up

Bring to Class: Be ready to discuss your class plan

Homework: Design a warm-up specific to your class plan and detail the anatomy of your movements

Week 4

October 3rd, 2021

Topic: Cueing and Spotting

Bring to Class: Be ready to teach a few movements from your warm-up

Homework: Prepare for leading part of a warm-up and class

Week 5

October 10th, 2021

Topic: Teaching practice and final assessment

Bring to Class: Be prepared to lead part of a warm-up and class
