FLY TOGETHER FITNESS
INSTRUCTOR TRAINING COURSE

In this 4-week course you’ll learn tools and techniques and gain the confidence to lead a pole fitness class. At the end of the course, you will have developed a lesson plan for the class style of your choice and have received hands-on training and feedback in inclusion, class management, anatomy & warm-up, cueing and spotting, as well as practice leading a mock classroom. If you haven’t taught before, this training is also the first step to becoming a Fly Together Fitness instructor!

 

Basic Information

Term: April 15th - May 6th

Instructors: Quinn and Alicia

 

Course location: Fly Together Fitness, 31 Woodbine St, Somerville, MA

Course hours: Saturdays, 4:30pm-7:30pm

Price: $350 for 12 hours of in-person training

 

Course Objectives

This course is designed to give you the tools and practice to create a curriculum for your classes, lead a safe warm-up, learn to spot, and maintain an inclusive and welcoming environment for your students. At the end of the course you'll have developed a lesson plan for the class type of your choice and gained experience in the above areas as well as in leading a mock classroom.

After the Course: Becoming a Fly Together Fitness Instructor
This course is the first step to becoming a Fly Together Instructor! We'll be taking applications from students who complete this course and are interested in teaching. If selected, you'll receive and be compensated for further training on Fly Together specific methodologies, milestones, and more.

Week 1

April 15, 2023

Topics: Welcome, Inclusion, Teaching, and Managing a Class
Prework: Inclusion and microagressions worksheets, review questions to ask when planning a class

Week 2

April 22, 2023

Topics: Anatomy and Warm-Up

Prework: Review anatomy slides, Pole PT, muscle labeling

Week 3

April 29, 2023

Topic: Cueing and Spotting

Prework: Decide on 2-3 moves to teach in your class and design a warm up specific to those moves

Week 4

May 6, 2023

Topic: Teaching practice and final assessment

Prework: Be prepared to lead a warm up and part of a class
